The glossary is intended to be a quick reference for the various terms used throughout the site. If there is a detailed wiki page on any of the terms defined below, a link will also be provided.

- 1.0 Bar: A frequently used volumetric pressure measurement, about 14.5 PSI.
- 1.8TQMS: Nickname for the 1.8T A4 with Quattro, a Manual transmission, and the Sport package.
- 12V: Nickname for the 12 valve 2.8L (1996-1997) A4, which was only sold in North America.
- 710N: Popular upgrade to stock DV.

- AEB: Engine code for 97 - 99.5 1.8T A4s. Desirable for BT applications due to a big port head and forged rods.
- AFPR: (Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator)
- APR: A tuning company which sells a popular chip.
- ATW: Engine code for 2000-2001 B5 A4s. Has a small port head and forged rods.
- AWD: (All Wheel Drive) Referring to a system where all four wheels of a vehicle receive power from the engine.
- AWHP: (All Wheel Horsepower)
- AWM: Engine code for 2001 B5 A4s. Has a small port head and cast rods.

- BHP: (Brake Horsepower) The measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, generator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components.
- BOV: (Blow Off Valve)
- BT: (Big Turbo) A nickname for any turbo larger than a K04. [See Also: K04]
- BTDC: (Below Top Dead Center) Typically represented by a number of degrees below TDC. Ignition timing is read in this format. [See Also: TDC]

- CA: (Control Arms)
- CAI: (Cold Air Intake)
- Catalytic Converter: Often reverred to as the "cat," it connects to the exhaust system filtering out contaminants that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere.
- CC: (Clear Cornered) A modification that involves removing the amber corner reflectors from US-Spec 1-piece housings.
- CF: (Carbon Fiber)
- CHP: (Crank Horsepower) [See Also: BHP]

- D1S: Newer ballast/bulb system for xenon lights.
- D2S: Older ballast/bulb system for xenon lights.
- DBC: (Drive By Cable) [See also NDBW]
- DBW: (Drive By Wire)
- DMFW: (Dual Mass Flywheel)
- DP: (Downpipe)
- DTS: (Drivetrain Stabilizer)
- DV: (Diverter Valve)

- EBC: (Electronic Boost Controller)
- E-Code: European standard headlight housing. Anything that is built to European spec may be referred to as "E-Code."
- ECU: (Electronic Control Unit) The car's computer.

- FMIC: Front mounted intercooler
- FPR: Fuel Pressure Regulator
- Frontrak: Audi's front wheel drive system

- GIAC: A popular chip manufacturer.

- HFC: (High Flow Cat) A catalytic converter designed to minimize resistance to exhaust flow. [See Also: Catalytic Converter]
- HID: (High Intensity Discharge) Xenon headlights
- Haldex: One of the types of quattro systems

- inHg: Inches of Mercury (Vacuum)

- K03: Stock turbo
- K03 Sport: Used in 2000 and 2001's. 00 had a 3mm shaft, 01 had a 4mm shaft.
- K04: Upgraded turbo which uses the K03 housing

- Limp: Happens when overboost is detected. The car will not boost over 8psi until Limp is cleared.
- LWFW: (Lightweight Flywheel)

- M1: Mobil 1 oil.
- MAF: (Mass Air Flow sensor)
- MAP: (Manifold Absolute Pressure) The sensor that reads charge air pressure on ATW and AWM motors. Located on SMIC.
- MBC: (Manual Boost Controller)

- N75: Solenoid valve which opens and closes to allow air pressure to the wastegate

- OEM: (Original Equipment Manufacturer)

- PSI: (Pounds per Square Inch) A unit of measurement for volumetric pressure. [See Also: Boost]

- RDS: (Radio Data System) A standard set by the European Broadcasting Union that is used to send small amounts of digital information over FM radio frequencies. It is typically used by radio stations to send data about the currently playing artist, song, genre, and other related information (which can then be displayed on an RDS capable radio).

- S/W: Software
- SMIC: (Side Mounted Intercooler)
- Snub Mount: The forward-most engine mount.

- TB: (Timing Belt)
- TBA: (Throttle Body Alignment)
- TBB: (Throttle Body Boot)
- TDC: (Top Dead Center) The point at which the pistons are at the top of a stroke and all valves are closed.
- TIP: (Turbo Inlet Pipe)
- Tip: Short for Tiptronic transmission, Audi's proprietary automatic transmission (allowing the driver to enter a "manual" mode, where gear selection can be made by the driver).
- TorSen (Torque Sensing) One of the types of quattro systems
- TP: Testpipe
- TRE: (Tie Rod End)

- WOT: (Wide Open Throttle) The point at which the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way.
